Simply Charming Quilt Along

Okay, so I started the Simply Charming Quilt-Along from Kindred Quilts blog!  We each made a quilt from Tara Lynn Darr's first book, Simply Charming.  I had ordered the book, but hadn't received it and I was just chomping at the bit to get started, so I totally copied Kathy's from the picture she posted!  Sorry, but I loved it and wanted to get one done.

I used shirtings for the background and different dark and medium scraps for the squares.  I didn't have a pattern, therefore I winged it so it would fit my 12 x 14" frame and I love it!  (I used 1/8 in. seams and didn't love that!)  I have many ideas of what I want to do for the next one, just haven't narrowed it down yet.  Anyway, you can join or follow along with us here.

Sweet 30's quilt!

This quilt is SO cute!  I just love it!

In the nine-patches I did some continuous curves and then did a little different continous curves in the blue and white background.

Nice texture without being obnoxious.

One more view...

Here is the borders...one with CC's and the blue with an echoed loop and swirl.

This makes me want SUMMER!

This quilt has such great spring/summer appeal!  I just love it!

I gave it swirls on the inside to represent the blue of the water, and then movement of pink flowers.

Hopefully in this picture you can see all the flip flops in the yellow fabric!  These are so cool that I had to add some flip flops in the border!  I think I will get a pair out just to be that much closer to warm weather!  I can't wait!

A Year To Crow About! BOM

If you want to take this BOM class, it is at the Notions Nook in Rockford, IL!  Great new quilt shop in the Edgebrook plaza!

I had SO much fun with cute whimsical quilt!

I tried to have the piecing pop, and sometimes that required just smaller quilting in the lighter areas.

These hearts almost look like they are beating!

Here, you can see the sashing some, and the borders.  SO fun!

Love the little watering can!

Tried something a little different with the pinwheels...it gives it a little movement.

Love the texturing how the colors pop!

More pictures of different background fills.

Love these bearpaw/maple leaf blocks!

Tried to make each kernel of corn be seen!

You have to love a block with quilting supplies!

Here is a closer up picture of the yummy feathers in the outer border and the crosses in the second to last border, and circles in the first border.

Here is one on the left side of the quilt.
