Blizzard 2011

Well, this post doesn't have much to do with quilting, (except reasons why I didn't get time to sew during these snow days). It does, however have some interesting pictures.


First of all, yesterday at around 3:15 CT, our daughter was going to wash her hands in the bathroom and along the way, she tripped on her own two feet and hit her head on a wooden chair splitting her head open! SO....it's a blizzard and our daughter's head is bleeding all over the place!

















Okay, two hours later, we are on our way home. We have to pick up our boys, who we left at our wonderful neighbor's house. Here is the pictures of our drive home.

Okay, so we made it back to pick up our boys from our wonderful neighbor's house, only we ended up stuck numerous times and realized that we weren't going any further! SO, we had a sleep over at our super hospitable neighbor's. The kids were SO excited! They were in heaven!

It wasn't long and we weren't the only neighbors that got to their house and realized it was the end of the road. We had quite the slumber party! Playing cards till after 1am!

The next morning, when the wind started to die down, and the sun came out, we headed home on foot. These are the pictures of that adventure! Here are my two boys and husband pulling our daughter who is holding on to the rope for dear life as she layed down (wrapped in a blanket--we didn't think a tight stocking cap was a great idea!) This is our road!

Here is my husband's truck that got stuck as he tried to plow a path for us to get home!

Now, here we have finally reached the driveway...or have we? It used to be here!

This is one quilt I had a hard time returning! I think this is one I may have to do myself someday! She did a great job piecing it!

2011 Goals

Well, I have many goals for the year. Last year I worked on not buying fabric. I made it to about the halfway mark, and blew it! I bought fabric for about 3 months and then did pretty good the last three (after our guild quilt show!)

So, this year my goal is to complete 12 projects. Yep, one a month! I know most of you make 20-60 a year, but, this working mother of three isn't quite as prolific! These projects don't even have to be new ones, they can just be ones that I started long ago, but finally complete! So, cheer me on, because I am going to need it!

P.S. I am almost 1/2 way through month one, and already behind the ball...Christmas, New Year's and then 3 birthdays by Jan. 15th!!! My youngest two kid's and my lovely husband! Quick! Cheer louder!

Last one of the Year!

Here is a beautiful quilt made with great Kaffe Fassette fabrics! It was made for her granddaughter where it will reside on her bed for years to come! Perfect!

Border Challenge Quilt

Well, here is another customer quilt. It was a border challenge that often creates challenges for the piecer, and then the quilter, but in this case it was flawless! She did a beautiful job!

Charity Quilt for the Artists' Ensemble!

Here is a BEAUTIFUL quilt that I quilted for one of our local theater companies. It will used in a play called Moon Over the Brewery in the month of December and raffled off after that!
